AQU researchers presented three research papers in the most important dental research conference worldwide. Two papers were presented by student groups from the Dental Research Club, the first one titled “Beyond the First Wave: Consequences of COVID-19 Lockdown on Dental Students’ Mental Health” where students, Raghad Saleh, Ayah Dweik and Mayar Danadneh, assessed dental students' mental Health in times of COVID 19 lockdown.  The second paper titled “Dental Health Behaviors Between Dental Students”, where students, Mayar Dandneh, Ruba Nairoukh and Raghad Saleh, described dental health behaviors between dental students regarding the use of dental floss.

The Dental School at the University of Niigata, Japan signed on March 29^th an MoU with the Dental School at Al-Quds University to encourage faculty and student academic exchange and build strong basis for future research projects.

AQU collaborates with the Movement Disorders Society - Palestine Chapter and Alpha Omega for Neuroscience Technology to host a two-day conference on "Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's Disease in Palestine: Opportunities and Challenges"!

Dr. Elham Kateeb, the Dean of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University,  was one of the five panelist who discussed  how can the COVID-19 pandemic be a catalyst for progress?" that was organized by the German-Arab Women Business Leaders Program "GAWBL.connect" .

Aseel Yaghmoor, a medical student at Al-Quds University coauthored an important review titled “Efficacy and safety of percutaneous mitral balloon valvotomy in patients with mitral stenosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis”.

Dr. Elham Kateeb presented her research on “How Dentistry Survived the Early Months of the COVID-19 Pandemic? The Palestinian Experience.” at the National Oral Health conference, the main conference of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry on April 24^th, 2021

The Dean of Scientific Research participated , as a panelist, in the Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD) First Annual Meeting on 31 March 2021. Dr. Kateeb discussed the role of academia in promoting the SDGs in the Arab region was the main theme of this meeting.

Forum in the MENA region (ERF). The forum represents 20 countries in the MENA region, with 70 percent of all affiliates residing in the MENA region. Currently, there are 311 affiliates: 179 Research Fellows, 66 Research Associates, 42 Senior Associates and 24 Policy Affiliates. ERF affiliates are considered the backbone of the forum for this network.

On November 4^th and 5^th Al- Quds University and Julich Institute and the Palestinian German Science Bridge PGSB organized a two-day Research Management Workshop! In this workshop, experts from AQU and Julich discussed different challenges faced by Palestinian researchers such as external funding, innovation strategy, young investigators support and cultural competency.

A recent study published by Dr. Ruwaa Alawiya, Dr. Abanob Riyad and Dr. Elham Kateeb, showed that AQU dental students scored higher than dental students in the American Arab University AAU in the three scales of knowledge about COVID-19, “COVID-19 Symptoms,” “Pathways of Transmission,” and “Diagnosis” techniques. On the other hand, perceptions of outpatient clinics’ preparedness for the pandemic were better among AAU students.

On the 14th of July 2020, participants from 16 academic and research entities from the region, along with the Academic Council of the United Nations (ACUNS), Qatar University, and Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), welcomed Al-Quds University as a founding member of the Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD).  Al-Quds University was represented by Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Elham Kateeb.

A research team from Al-Quds University has received the Al-Maqdisi program 2020-2022 grantto support a research project aiming at the discovery of new genes involved in familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). This research project,which extends over a period of two years,will be coordinated by Dr. Fawaz Awad and Dr Zaidoun Salah from Al-Quds University, and Professor Sonia Karabina and Dr. Irina Giurgea from the Sorbonne University in France.The project will also be conducted in collaboration with a number of medical specialists in Palestine.
