In Nature’s Correspondence: AQU Women Scientists Speak Out About Conducting Science Under Occupation!

Four Palestinian researchers from Al-Quds University, and members of 500 Women Scientists — wrote in Nature Correspondence to call attention to the continuing plight of women trying to do research in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including the struggles involved with affording essential equipment, commuting to the lab through multiple checkpoints, and global barriers to publishing research. The call for abstracts is now open for the 5th Undergraduate Research Conference

The Deanship of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University and Al-Quds Bard College invite current undergraduate students and recent graduates from Palestinian, regional, and international universities as well as high school students to submit their research abstracts to the 5th Undergraduate Research Conference that will take place at Al-Quds University in-person, and virtually via AQU Zoom platform on the month of May 2023.

AQU and Julich Institute Organizing Research Capacity Building Courses

Julich Institute and the Deanship of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University organized two course that aimed to build research capacity among PhD students and professional students, dental and medical. The first course was conducted in mid-September 2021 and trained students on scientific writing. The second course was conducted on October 25-26th, 2021 and focused on scientific presentation. Both courses were given by German experts from Julich and other affiliated universities. These courses were supported by the Research Management project executed by Julich Institute and Al-Quds University and funded by the Palestinian German Science Bridge.

AQU Award for Scientific Research Production: An Event to Honor AQU Researchers, Faculty and Students

On May 30th, 2021, the Deanship of Scientific Research organized a ceremony to celebrate the scientific research production at AQU in the academic year 2019-2020. In this day, certificate of appreciation and monetary prizes were given to the best articles in natural and social sciences, most active researcher in each college, best master thesis in each college, the most active research clusters in natural and social sciences, and researchers who published in Q1 and Q2 journals according to Scopus database. In addition, students’ researchers, and researchers in AQU Research affiliate program were honored for their significant participation in AQU research production.

A study featured in the Tribune international on April 13th by Al-Quds university researchers showed that dentistry must adapt to be prepared for future crises

JERUSALEM, Palestine: A May 2020 survey asked dentists located in the West Bank area about their preparedness to resume offering routine dental care after the practice closures that were necessitated by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The researchers published a study in February this year which found that the challenges that emerged during the pandemic showed that dentistry needed to adapt in order to be better prepared for future crises.

Global Oral Health Educational Module launched today at AQU in collaboration with the Charite University: Building a Global Team for Oral Health and Health Equity

A module on Global Oral Health was launched on Monday April 19th  for Al-Quds dental students. Twenty AQU dental students out of 68 applicants were selected to be part of this global experience. AQU is one of twenty universities around the world who will be receiving this module.  The course is offered by the Charité University in Germany, in collaboration with the Deanship of Scientific Research at AQU and University of Glasgow.

Scientific Research Production at Al-Quds University Achieves High Ranks on Local, Regional and International Levels!

This was achieved recently by:

Prof. Ziad Abdeen from AQU College of Medicine who was ranked among the top 2% of the world's researchers for outstanding research production in 2019, according to Stanford University statistics and the (Elsevier) global database. And prof. Mahmoud Abu Samara from the College of Education, who was ranked among the top 100 researchers cited the most  for the year 2020 in the Arab Citation and Impact Factor (ARCIF), the most comprehensive citation database for Arabic peer-reviewed journals.

Complete Genome Sequence of SARS-CoV-2 Strains Isolated from two patientsin Jericho-Palestine

A team of Palestinian researchers, consisting of Dr. Suheir Ereqat and Dr. Abdel Majeed Nassereddin from Al-Quds University and Dr. Amer Al-Jawabreh from the Arab American university-Jenin, describe the complete genome sequence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) strains isolated from nasopharyngeal swab obtained from two patients with COVID-19 who were infected inJericho – Palestine.
