AQU SR Highlights

Global Oral Health Educational Module launched today at AQU in collaboration with the Charite University: Building a Global Team for Oral Health and Health Equity

A module on Global Oral Health was launched on Monday April 19th  for Al-Quds dental students. Twenty AQU dental students out of 68 applicants were selected to be part of this global experience. AQU is one of twenty universities around the world who will be receiving this module.  The course is offered by the Charité University in Germany, in collaboration with the Deanship of Scientific Research at AQU and University of Glasgow.

The module contains  3 learning blocks: 1. Core Knowledge, 2. Key thematic areas, 3. Emerging issues.

The core knowledge block will introduce the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development and take an  in-depth look at each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and their targets. It will also provide a brief summary of topics such as Planetary Health and One Health.

The Key thematic areas will include such as: Infant oral health,  Digital health, artificial intelligence, tele-dentistry, Noncommunicable diseases & common risk factor approach, Refugee oral health, Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), Mental health and oral health, Food systems and nutrition.

The Emerging issues block will address emerging issues on the near horizon, including; Climate change and oral health, Urban Health,  Chemicals safety (plastics in dentistry), Water use, scarcity and stress, Environmental and occupational health.

Upon completion students will get a certificate of participation and an eBook, which will provide learning material for each content block, as well as interactive links as key resources for Global Oral Health.
