ANDD's Virtual Capacity-Building Workshop Achieves Unprecedented Success under the Leadership of AQU, QU and the ESCWA

The Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD) in collaboration with Al-Quds University, Qatar University and the ESCWA proudly announces the resounding success of its virtual capacity-building workshop, "Research Fundamentals for Early Researchers and Advanced Students in the Arab World." Spanning seven months from November 2023 to May 2024, this impactful initiative has significantly nurtured research skills and critical thinking among Arab youth, reflecting the region's immense need for such educational programs.

The workshop, conducted in both Arabic and English, engaged hundreds of young scholars in an interactive learning platform. With sessions held weekly, participants benefitted from 1.5 to 2 hours of intensive learning each session, guided by 24 distinguished speakers from different Arab and International research institutions. The course structure combined lectures and discussions, ensuring an engaging and dynamic educational experience.

The course, an ANDD initiative, was meticulously designed to equip early career researchers and advanced students in the Arab World with essential research skills. It covered the entire research process, from formulating focused research questions to publishing findings and adhering to ethical standards. The key outcomes of the course included:

  1. Formulating clear and focused research questions
  2. Conducting comprehensive literature reviews
  3. Designing appropriate research methodologies
  4. Collecting and analyzing data with suitable tools and techniques
  5. Interpreting research findings and drawing valid conclusions
  6. Writing and formatting research papers for publication
  7. Understanding and adhering to ethical guidelines in research
  8. Presenting research findings effectively

High Satisfaction and Positive Feedback:

Participants expressed high satisfaction with all components of the course. The evaluation revealed that learners found the content highly relevant and beneficial for their academic and professional development. The interactive sessions, expert guidance, and comprehensive coverage of topics were particularly praised.

One participant noted, "The course exceeded my expectations. It provided me with practical skills and insights that I can apply directly to my research projects. The speakers were knowledgeable and approachable, making the learning experience enriching and enjoyable."

Recognition and Certification:

Learners who achieved 70 percent attendance or higher received a Certificate of Course Completion, recognizing their commitment and active participation in the program. This certification is expected to enhance their academic profiles and research credentials.

Dr. Kateeb, Dean of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University and the current chair of ANDD said that the overwhelming success of the "Research Fundamentals for Early Researchers and Advanced Students in the Arab World" workshop underscores the vital role of such initiatives in empowering young researchers and indicated  that ANDD remains committed to fostering academic excellence and research proficiency in the Arab World, and this workshop marks a significant milestone in that ongoing journey.
