The Dean of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University held the activities of the fifth conference for undergraduate research in collaboration with Al-Quds Bard College. The event was held under the patronage of the University President, Dr. Imad Abu Kashk, and featured the participation of student researchers from Palestinian and regional universities, as well as several high schools.
The participating students presented 49 refereed research papers and posters in oral, visual, and virtual sessions. These presentations covered various scientific fields, including natural, social, and human sciences, such as public health, medicine, pharmacy, laboratory sciences, nature, economics, and human rights. The virtual sessions hosted regional researchers and research presentations from dozens of students from universities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as high school students who participate in the conference annually.
University President Dr. Imad Abu Kishik announced the names of the winning students from Al-Quds University and other participating national and regional universities, emphasizing the role of this conference in affirming the value and importance of scientific research at Al-Quds University. He highlighted the university's strategy to become a research-oriented institution that encourages knowledge and creativity, providing researchers with all possible support for their research projects and entrepreneurial initiatives, with the aim of fostering a pioneering future and a generation of sustainable researchers and knowledge.
Executive Deputy to the University President, Dr. Hassan Dweik, commended the efforts of the students in developing scientific research, which the university values by supporting the development of ideas into projects and startups through research clubs and business incubators. He stressed that the high percentage of student research contributions is evidence of the efforts made to promote research and guide its pioneers.
Dr. Elham Kateeb, the Dean of Scientific Research, expressed her gratitude to the students of the Dental Research Club and the AMRA student platform, as well as the judges and supervisors, for their efforts in making the fifth edition of the conference a success. She emphasized the university's mission and readiness to serve the students of Al-Quds University and various Palestinian universities through this unique research platform, aiming to develop the research environment through the efforts and awareness of the students regarding the role of scientific research.
Dean Daniel Terris of Al-Quds Bard College expressed his pride in this five-year partnership with the Dean of Scientific Research at the university. He highlighted how the research initiatives presented by the students can showcase their journey in search of answers, which the world should become acquainted with and appreciate. He emphasized the importance of student research in representing the university and developing the education system in Palestine, as well as the essential role of knowledge, which encompasses ideas and freedom.
Representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ihab Al-Qubj thanked Al-Quds University for sponsoring this conference and supporting scientific research in general. He praised the efforts of the students and sponsors, as Al-Quds has now become present on the map of international scientific research, leaving numerous contributions in exceptional research worldwide. He encouraged the students to approach the university's business incubators to invest in their ideas and translate them into successful entrepreneurial projects.
In the oral sessions, Rama Qawasma and Sara Qasem from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Quds University won in the field of medicine. In the Laboratory Sciences and Pharmacy department, Masa Zahida and Hadeel Salama from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Quds University shared the victory. From Al-Quds Bard College, Hala Al-Anani won in the field of human rights and economics, and Ali Jalad won in the field of humanities.
In the research poster sessions, Lina Dweik and Sara Marqa from the Faculty of Dentistry, and Fajr Sarhan and Maha Awad from the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Quds University shared the victory in the field.
