AQU faculty continue to share secrets of successful applications for graduate programs with students

JERUSALEM | In Collaboration with the Dentistry students’ research club , the Deanship of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University recently held a scientific session to educate the students on how to accomplish successful applications for graduate programs. Dr. Mohammad Sharie’ah highlighted the specifications of the applicant’s statement of purpose that are usually highly-appreciated by universities and study centers.

Dr. Sharie’ah explained that the statement of purpose “should articulate the applicant’s motivation for choosing to pursue studies at a specific university as well as the sole factor behind seizing an appealing opportunity”. In this respect, he presented the students in attendance with an inventory of tips and helpful techniques, maintaining that a prospect graduate student should observe truthfulness and have full grasp of the statement content. “Applicants need to focus on suspense, mostly through using the narrative technique, as well as on the exposure of the special skills and capacities they enjoy”.

In speaking about the technical aspects, Sharie’ah demonstrated that the letter of motivation should be presented in a professional format, style, and grammar, in addition to being accurate and balanced, so that it may obtain a scholarship.

“Before embarking on your motivation letter”, Dr. Mohammad Sharie’ah says, “it is recommended that you find out as much as possible about the university that is offering the program and about the program itself”. “Usually, official websites are pretty clear and informative about their requirements and expectations and about what qualifications and qualities they hope their candidates have.”
