Al-Quds University holds 7th PFMR Biomedical Research Symposium

Jerusalem – On October 7, and with the participation of a number of researchers, specialists, students and faculty from different Palestinian universities, the University held the 7th PFMR Biomedical Research Symposium, as part of its interest in medical research.

The university these days witnesses ongoing development in scientific and medical research and continuously strives to present the best of knowledge and training to its students in order to provide the society with qualified graduates.

The main purpose of the symposium was to revive scientific research in the country and reinforce researching abilities of both undergraduate and graduate Palestinian students. The symposium is also vital, for it enables students and professors to share information and conduct co-researches that would contribute to national scientific research endeavors.

In his statement in the plenary session, University president, Dr. Imad Abu Kishek, stressed the need to find compatible joint-work mechanism based on a collective research network so as to create a kind of qualitative evolution in scientific research at the national arena and ultimately reach the level of world modern medical research works. 

For his part, Dr. Rami Uqailan, said that PMFR “has, since it was founded in 2011, been striving to function as a platform for students interested in medical research”. He stressed the need for reinforcing cooperation between the symposium and Palestinian universities to promote scientific research in Palestine.

The annual symposium focuses on networking and communication among researchers. It also includes granting awards to master’s students who had carried out researchers that address Palestine issues. This year’s awards were given to Dyala Shatleh, Abrar Jamous, Taher Zaid and Raand Arafeh for their excellent researches.s

During the recent symposium, a group of research abstracts for studies carried out by Palestinian students from local, regional, and international universities were presented, along with screening students’ posters.

It is noteworthy that Al-Quds University, Palestine Polytechnic University, Hebron University, An-Najah National University, Birzeit University, Arab American University, along with researchers from Arab citizens of Israel, have participated in the event.
