On ( May 2020) , (Omar Hamarsheh) published a new study in (Chapter in Handbook of Healthcare in the Arab World) titled (Epidemiology of Leishmaniasis in Palestine). The article aimed to (The prevalence of the disease across all regions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and highlights the people at risk.). The results of this study demonstrated that (There are three Leishmania parasites coexisting in Palestine. Diagnosis of the disease is based only on clinical signs and symptoms. However, these signs and symptoms, alone or in combination, are not specific enough to differentiate the condition from other systemic infections. Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) should be suspected in a patient with fever and splenomegaly and who lives in or recently visited an endemic area. Pentavalent antimonial sodium stibogluconate is the first line treatment of leishmaniasis, and offered free of charge in Ministry of Health clinics and hospitals. There is a need for effective and durable control measures to help manage leishmaniasis and eliminate it from Palestine and protect people living in endemic areas).
