On (14/8/2026) , (Dr. Hussein ALMasri, Dr. Zining Luo, Dr. Belal Aldabbour, Dr. Junwen Wang, Dr. Huda Lahham) published a new study in (Nature Medicine) titled (Reconstructing disease burden data in armed conflict). The article aimed to call for a global commitment: transforming fragmented crisis records into actionable public health evidence, empowering locally led research, and ensuring that long-term health losses are no longer overlooked. By rebuilding disease burden data, we restore the foundation for health system recovery in Palestine—and set a precedent for other conflict-affected regions worldwide). The results of this study demonstrated that (In the midst of armed conflict, documenting disease burden becomes more than statistics—it is an act of public health. Our recent correspondence in Nature Medicine highlights how the destruction of Gaza’s health system has pushed critical illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and maternal health far beyond the reach of routine data.
