Abstract:
The role of the Palestinian Tertiary Education in Political Activities for University Students
The present paper explores the role of Palestinian universities in reinforcing political activities for the students. Descriptive analytical approach is adopted with a view to analyzing the role of Palestinian universities for students’ political development envisaged by encouraging them to take part in politics. A sixty-item questionnaire is employed. The study consists of a sample of 287 students chosen from the population of the study which comprises 1153 students. The findings of the study show that in the role played by the Palestinian tertiary education in political activities for university students,
1. there were no statistically significant differences due to gender at Alpha level of 0.05 or even less;
2. there were statistically significant differences due to social status at Alpha level of 0.05 or even (married 3.61, single 3.35);
3. there were statistically significant differences due to religion at Alpha level of 0.05 or even less (the average for a Christian is 3.20, for a Muslim 3.50);
4. there were statistically significant differences in terms of major for all specializations in comparison to Islamic studies at Alpha level of 0.05 or even less;
5. there were statistically significant differences in terms of places of living at Alpha level of 0.05 or even less;
6. there were no statistically significant differences in terms of years of study at Alpha level of 0.05 or even less and;
7. there were no statistically significant differences in terms of economic situation at Alpha level of 0.05 or even less.
