Introduction:
The Laboratory for Aquatic Environmental research Centre carries out research on water, plants algae, nutrients, heavy metals, soil, pigments and fishes. The center was established in 2008. It is a pioneer distinguished research laboratory in the Palestinian region that focuses on the Aquatic Environment in general and focuses on fish and plant Aquaculture. Important themes include monitoring pollution and removal of heavy metals, Aquaculture, purification of Aquatic ponds and water using natural plants as filters, pigments and natural products extraction using chromatographic technique.
Equipment:
- ICP-MS machine Agilent 7500 ICP-MS,
- HPLC-PDA and
- Aquariums equipped with a water recirculating systems.
- The lab provides facilities for research and practical teaching and supports the fieldwork.
Procedures:
The Centre conducts the following analysis for the purposes of teaching and research:
nutrients, pH, electrical conductivity, oxygen, transparency as a measurement of the water quality; trace metals using Agilent 7500 ICP-MS, organic compounds extractions and separation using HPLC-PDA.

Staff names: Mr. Hussam Malassa (Is an environmentalist and geologist. He was well trained to operate and maintain the Agilent 7500 ICP-MS).
