Introduction:
The center for quality in medical laboratories (CQML) aims to serve and develop medical laboratory services and laboratory workers in Palestine. The External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) is the only national program of its kind in Palestine. This program provides services to all certified medical laboratories in the West Bank. Thus, helping affiliated laboratories to improve their status and performance.

Procedures:
The Center is currently providing external quality control service in laboratory medicine in 6 lab disciplines; Routine Clinical Chemistry testing (18 Tests), Routine Hematology for Complete Blood Count (CBC) (8 parameters), Hemostasis-Coagulation for routine coagulation testing (3 tests), Samples for HbA1c, routine Urine dipstick analysis, and Hormonal assay (7 hormones).
The center work includes
1. Sample preparation: (External quality control samples)for the 6 above mentioned disciplines, all tested to be free of (HBV, HCV, HIV).
- samples are prepared internally in CQML and handled in accordance to ISO/IEC 17043 standards.
2.Samples distribution: Samples are distributed to the participating laboratories through the affiliated institutions in the program. The rest of the laboratories (private labs mainly) receive the samples through the Palestinian Ministry of Health's health directorates in all West Bank governorates.3. Communication with the laboratories: the center has a special web page www.eqas.alquds.edu through which the laboratory enters the results of the tests and then the center send reports to the laboratories online(after the statistical analysis of the results according to ISO 13528 standard) where each laboratory has its own User name and Password.
